In the meantime they are making another Hearts of Iron II addon called "Arsenal of Democracy" which is apparently going to fix the currents bugs in the Hearts of Iron II engine, add tech from 1952-1964 and add Railroad artillary.

On Paradox forum they are supposed to have the 1.3 patch out sometime around end of Oct. beginning of Nov. Hopefully the weather will be fixed, and optimize the speed a bit, along with some A.I. improvement.

Last time I put a corp or army under control of the AI to attack, it shipped out a bunch of brigades in the opposite direction to go defend nothing in the middle of nowhere.

I had something similar happen during the opening of the Polish campaign. For some reason my generals along the Polish border wanted to go fight the Frenchies instead of the Poles. So I started screaming at the screeen "Das war ein befel!!!" and went on a two hour rant about how my traitorous generals were the scum of the German people. Now my gf wont let me play anymore for 3 days.  Or at anytime she's trying to watch TV.  Embarrassed

According to PI Forum, 1.3 is due out before the end of this month. I pray to God they have fixed that weather bug, amoung other things. With the constant rain, I had to direct the Kriegsmarine to divert funding from U-Boats to a replica of Noahs Ark.  Cheesy Cheesy

I am a longtime wargamer, I started out with the tabletop games like Third Reich and Hitler's War. Then graduated to the PC games like Hearts of Iron series and the Total War games. Any other veteran armchair generals in here? If so what games are you currently into?

Hearts of Iron is so overrated. I hope number three will be better, but I hold my doubts since they are using the EU III engine which basically sucks.

The best games by Paradox Entertainment are so far Europa Universalis II and Victoria: An Empire under the Sun. I also enjoyed Crusader Kings with the Expansion Pack. It is free to download the Expansion packs by the way.

It improves the gaming experience tremendously.

I am pretty impressed with the changes in HoI 3. Of course its a Paradox game and needs to be patched.  But once they get it up to speed I think it's gonna be pretty awesome. Go to the website and get the demo and just check out the changes.

I started out with Panzer Blitz, moved on to Fulda Gap. but then got into naval simmulations such as Kriegsmarine, FlatTop, Wooden Ships and Iron Men,and Ironclads. I also enjoy Dawn Patrol.

The only controls I want on my guns are the ones I operate by myself, such as safety, magazine release, bolt or slide, optics an' trigger. Any others are unnecessary.

I'm now have been playing the Fall of the Republic-Rise of the Empire (Rome not Starwars) 77 B.C. mod for Rome Total War. It is fun, I decided to play a Steppe tribe and I'm going to build up in my isolated area of the map and pull off a Atilla the Hun. Tongue
