Should You Get More Votes if You Pay More Taxes?

I realize this may ruffle some feathers, but I am sick of the moochers and looters in society who do nothing but suck off the government tit getting the same say the productive do. As their numbers grow and the productive class shrinks the burden will be that much heavier on the producers in society. So here is an idea: The more you pay in income taxes, the more votes you get in federal elections.

So the ones who pay no income taxes would get 1 vote.
You fall into the 15% bracket you get 2 votes
25% Bracket gets 3 votes....and so on. Probably cap it at 5 votes for the highest earners

It may not be perfect, but its better than what we have now when the top 25% are paying the vast majority of all taxes yet see by far the fewest benefits and the bottom 50% pay almost nothing and get all the goodies! Angry

If you don't pay taxes, you shouldn't vote. The founders set it up that way in the beginning but it was never put in the constitution.

As far a "progressive" voteing system goes (number of votes based on taxes), I don't think that is representative of our country's values in that it would end up creating a super block of voters who would rule over the rest of us sort of like the way it is now with the non-taxpayers who vote for taking away things from those who do pay paxes.

Seems to me that we are turning into a 4 class system right now. There are the ruling class, the beaurocratic class, the military class and the working class.

The problem with this is that the working class is becoming the smallest of them and expected to support the other three. Being the only class that produces tangible goods and services, it is not possible for them to support the bloated other classes.
Thus, the financial troubles of today.

Even if the accurate results could not be tallied for a few days, it should be by "Popular Vote" only.

Absolutely! You should have as many votes as your gross income. That way lazy people won't get rewarded for their laziness, and smart people will be able to set the policy without the ridiculous need to consult with non-earners.

In my opinion, not earning money in this country is like being illegal immigrant – people like that just don't belong here at all.

If you are a person of principle like a good conservative is, you think first, "Can I possibly find a way to earn more money, to earn like Oprah or whoever?" And you do it, and not imply some class-warfare stuff.

Don't like Oprah? Don't watch Oprah. Convince everyone not to watch Oprah, make a better show and there will be no Oprah. She is that rich because it was our choice to watch her. She deserves it.

With this mindset, everyone who is on social security as their income wouldn't have a vote that worked hard all their life to recieve what they paid into. Oh wait social security reciepients do pay taxes indirectly with the cap and trade BS now in place.

You missed a couple of classes Duster - Minorities and Non-Minorities which within each are subclasses.

As far as having more votes if you pay taxes? Sounds good.

Remember when Clinton was going to make Lani Guinere the AG? She wanted Blacks to have two votes to a white having one vote. The black nationalists and Farrakhans group have been pushing this for awhile.
