Lucius Annaeus Seneca, 45 AD. ''A sword is never a killer, it is a tool in the killer’s hands.''

Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Benjamin Franklin quote: "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."

Churchill: Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others.

Winston Churchill: "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject."

Churchill quote! "You have enemies? Good. That means you've stoff up for something, sometime in your life."

Churchill quote: "Never give in - never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense."

Patrick Henry quote: "I know not what course others make take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"

George Mason quote that states "To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them..."

Ronald Reagan - "Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid."

Ronald Reagan, 1983 “You won’t get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There’s only one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up, and if you don’t actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time... It’s a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience.”

Ronald Reagan: "Government is not the solution to our problem. Government is the problem."

Ronald Reagan Quote: "How do you tell a Communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."

Ronald Reagan: "I notice that everybody who is Pro-Abortion has already been born."

Thomas Jefferson quote: "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

George Washington “A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.''

George Washington "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and the keystone under independence."

Patrick Henry - “The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.”

John Adams quote, "Let justice be done though the heavens should fall."

John Adams Quote: "They define a republic to be a government of laws, and not of men."

John F. Kennedy: "Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life.”

“Si vis pacem parabellum" Translation: If you want peace, prepare for war

Walter E. Williams  "Nothing in our Constitution suggests that government is a grantor of rights. Instead, government is a protector of rights."

"If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one...."
-- James Madison, letter to Edmund Pendleton, January 21, 1792

James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, elaborated upon this limitation in a letter to James Robertson:
With respect to the two words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators. If the words obtained so readily a place in the "Articles of Confederation," and received so little notice in their admission into the present Constitution, and retained for so long a time a silent place in both, the fairest explanation is, that the words, in the alternative of meaning nothing or meaning everything, had the former meaning taken for granted.

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents."
-- James Madison, 4 Annals of congress 179 (1794)

"Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated."
--Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Albert Gallatin, 1817

"That no free government, or the blessing of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue, and by frequent recurrence to fundamental principles."
-- George Mason, the Virginia Declaration of Rights, 1776

"There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."
-- James Madison, speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 16, 1788

"If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare,
and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare,
they may take the care of religion into their own hands;
they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish
and pay them out of their public treasury;
they may take into their own hands the education of children,
establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union;
they may assume the provision of the poor;
they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads;
in short, every thing, from the highest object of state legislation
down to the most minute object of police,
would be thrown under the power of Congress.... Were the power
of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for,
it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature
of the limited Government established by the people of America." James Madison

The people are masters of both Congress and courts, not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it!
— Abraham Lincoln

[E]very act of a delegated authority, contrary to the tenor of the commission under which it is exercised, is void. No legislative act, therefore, contrary to the Constitution, can be valid. To deny this, would be to affirm, that the deputy is greater than his principal; that the servant is above his master; that the representatives of the people are superior to the people themselves; that men acting by virtue of powers, may do not only what their powers do not authorize, but what they forbid.
— Alexander Hamilton, Federalist #78

The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose; since unconstitutionality dates from the time of it's enactment, and not merely from the date of the decision so branding it... No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law, and no courts are bound to enforce it.
— 16 Am Jur 2d, Sec 177 late 2d, Sec 256

Today, when a concerted effort is made to obliterate this point, it cannot be repeated too often that the Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ”that it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ”that it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government.
— Ayn Rand

Find out just what the people will submit to and you have found out the

exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and

these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or

with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those

whom they oppress. -- Frederick Douglass, civil rights activist, Aug. 4,

1857

Political corruption begins with every voter who votes his pocketbook

instead of for what's good for the country. There is little difference

between the selling of his vote by an elected official and the selling of

his vote by a voter, to whatever candidate promises him some benefit. -- Jon

Roland, speech during his campaign for Congress, 1974

In politics nothing gets done until you first create a channel of

corruption. -- Jesse Cuellar, cynical observer of the political scene, 1982

When Hitler came for the Jews... I was not a Jew, therefore, I was not

concerned. And when Hitler attacked the Catholics, I was not a Catholic, and

therefore, I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the unions and the

industrialists, I was not a member of the unions and I was not concerned.

Then, Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church -- and there was nobody

left to be concerned. -- Pastor Martin Niemoller, Congressional Record,

October 14, 1968, vol. 114, p. 31636.

"Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when

the Government's purposes are beneficent. Men born to freedom are naturally

alert to repel invasion of their liberty by evilminded rulers. The greatest

dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well

meaning but without understanding." -- Justice Louis D. Brandeis

dissenting,Olmstead v. United States

So long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish

to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote

themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to

put shackles upon sleeping men. -- Voltarine de Cleyre

Every collectivist revolution rides in on a Trojan horse of "emergency". It

was the tactic of Lenin, Hitler, and Mussolini. In the collectivist sweep

over a dozen minor countries of Europe, it was the cry of men striving to

get on horseback. And "emergency" became the justification of the subsequent

steps. This technique of creating emergency is the greatest achievement that

demagoguery attains. -- Herbert Hoover.

http://www.popmodal.com/video/12628/Freedom-is-never-more-than-one-generation-aw...

"freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. The only way they can inherit the freedom we have known is if we fight for it, protect it, defend it and then hand it to them with the well thought lessons of how they in their lifetime must do the same. And if you and I don't do this, then you and I may well spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it once was like in America when men were free."

Progressives today don't want to discuss their own history. I want to discuss their history.&&&&(Quote)If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle - Sun Tzu (Art of War, Chapter 3)

We should measure welfare's success by how many people leave welfare, not by how many are added.
