Wow! Like I'm really surprised........come on people he is a Democrat for crying out loud.

Now if he was a conservative Republican he would have been front page news for months and thrown out years ago.

But he's a Dem. He can get away with raping an underage girl on the 50 yard line during the halftime show at the Superbowl. The Dems would somehow spin it as a positive thing and he really didn't know what he was doing and it was George Bush's fault.

This always pissses me off.  Any regular person's reputation would be totally ruined and they would lose their job or position.

We have a concilwoman here in FL, Mildred Fernandez who was arrested and charged with felony counts of corruption, and her lawyer is trying to work out a plea deal (same thing) not only to drop charges to misdemeanors, but for her to retain her seat.  You have GOT to be kidding me!

Something how these sleazebags always buy their way out.

I've even seen judges get caught for drunk driving get it 'fixed' as if it never happened.  Roll Eyes

Rangel would make a great poster child to be used against the Democrats.  He is the perfect example of everything that is dirty and corrupt in politics. But then, there are so many, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd and many more. Hard to pick the worst of the worst, I wouldn't even say it's Obama.  It's those who trained him, paid for everything to groom him for the ultimate prize so they could finally destroy America.  He is now doing his best at what he was trained to do.

Rangels defense should be "I can't resign!! I need to stay awhile longer because I still haven't stolen as much as Pelosi!!!!!"

Yeah, that, and everyone else is too afraid to represent Harlem.

The choice was mine and mine completely.
I could have any prize that I desired.
I could burn with the splendor of the brightest fire. Or else...... Or else I could choose.... time.

Remember, I was very young then. And a year was forever and a day, so what use could 50, 60, 70 be?
I saw the lights and I was on my way. And how I lived. How they shone but how soon the lights were gone.

Did anyone really expect this mound of excrement to actually be punished??? He is a minority Dem, the gold standard of the Dem party. No way he or any of the other Dem vermin ever get punished. If you or I or some GOP rep was caught cheating on taxes, our accounts would be seized and we would get the book thrown at us. This is the New America of elites above the law and untouchable. In fact, being a tax cheat made little Timmy Geitner more acceptable to obongo.

This morning's paper reports that no deal was struck.

Republicans get wish: Congressman Rangel's ethics case headed into fall campaign season

LARRY MARGASAK
Associated Press Writer
7:57 a.m. CDT, July 30, 2010

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans wanted an election-season ethics case against Democratic powerhouse Rep. Charles Rangel of New York. And now, it looks like they have one.

A House ethics panel of four Democrats and four Republicans, who will determine Rangel's guilt or innocence on 13 ethics charges, held its organizational meeting Thursday. The message going forward, from the top Republican on the panel, was: Let the trial begin.

Rangel was "given the opportunity to negotiate a settlement during the investigation phase," Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas said. "We are now in the trial phase."

McCaul's strong comment was echoed by Rep. Jo Bonner, R-Ala., who was on a separate ethics panel that conducted the two-year investigation of Rangel and brought the charges.

"Mr. Rangel was given multiple opportunities to settle this matter. Instead, he chose to move forward to the public trial phase," he said.

Republicans have already been making Rangel a campaign issue, and a fall trial would give them expanded opportunities. It can't start until September, because Congress takes off in August.

House charges Rep. Charles Rangel with ethics violations
A House panel outlines 13 counts against the New York Democratic lawmaker, whose political career spans 40 years.

By James Oliphant, Tribune Washington Bureau
July 30, 2010

Reporting from Washington —

Rep. Charles Rangel of New York was charged Thursday with 13 counts of violating House ethics rules, placing the Democrat's storied, 40-year political career in jeopardy.

A House ethics panel outlined the alleged violations in a meeting that set the stage for a full-blown proceeding that could take place as early as September.

The charges stem from Rangel's alleged use of rent-controlled apartments for campaign purposes, his alleged solicitation of corporate donors for a public-policy center at a New York City college using office letterhead, the alleged failure to disclose $600,000 in income on financial-disclosure statements and the alleged failure to disclose income and pay taxes on a Caribbean rental property.
Until the moment the committee convened Thursday afternoon, talk was filtering through congressional corridors that Rangel's attorneys had struck a deal to avoid the hearing.

But Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas, the ranking Republican on the subcommittee that will try Rangel, suggested the time for a settlement had passed, saying Rangel, a Democrat from Harlem, had been given an "opportunity to negotiate a settlement in the investigation phase."

"The American people need to hear the truth," McCaul said.

A settlement could still occur, and reports indicate that the principles of a deal were in place. But it would require the approval of at least one Republican on the Ethics Committee, which may be difficult to secure in the highly charged partisan atmosphere on Capitol Hill.

Rangel did not appear at the hearing.

McCaul said the allegations would represent "multiple violations of House rules and federal statutes." Rangel has not been charged with criminal violations.

Man am I glad we have our clean cut congressional leaders.  They only lie, cheat, steal, commit adultery, commit perjury, don't pay their taxes, write bad checks.  Truely great role models.
Well we got what we deserved - we keep voting for them Angry
THANK YOU  misfits of AMERICA
