Nice, Maybe the date refers to the return of the Mayan god who is actually an alien. Their alien god predicted the return date based on calculating travel time to and back from his home planet. Thanks to the theory if relitivity, we know that traveling at light speed, eons could pass for life on earth while just a few years may have passed for this alien god.

Then again....the date could just mark the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new calendar. How far ahead were they supposed to make future calendars??? I have one here on the wall that ends on DEC. 31st 2011 but I don't think that means the world will end on that day.

One of these doomsday predictions is bound to pan out sooner or later though. Maybe the doomsayers can manage to keep us all scared to death until it happens. Roll Eyes

What's always came to mynd about this 2012 prediction is, whether some people will be relieved if the day simply passes as any other....or will some be 'disappointed' it turns out uneventful.

NASA vs. doomsday theorists: Why the world won't end in 2012
By The Week's Editorial Staff | The Week

An ancient Mayan calendar supposedly points to Dec. 21, 2012 as our day of reckoning. "Ridiculous," says a NASA astronomer

Will Dec. 21, 2012 usher in the end of the world as we know it? That what some doomsday watchers say, pointing to a Mayan prophesy that's generating a lot of hysteria. Such frenzied hand-wringing is unnecessary, says NASA, because the various predictions inspired by Mayan artifacts are bunk. Here's what you should know:

The Bible proves that no one will predict the end of the world.  Yes, that includes Mayans, people.
