Is a living breathing document or more along the lines of how Ron Paul views it?

Welcome to CF!    Smiley

The only living breathing part of t he Constitution is the amendment process.  Endlessly reinterpreting the Constitution to remove any and all limits to government power is not the Constitution living, its the Constitution dying.

I don't think I could have said it any better than gabriele, but when it comes to Ron Paul, it's like a devil and angel all rolled up into one.  One one hand Ron Paul has good ideas about less government, but when it comes to our national security and defense, the guy has literally lost his mind.

For him to say he wants to subsidize a failing economy by decimating our defense system and backing out of some foriegn countries is not only ludicrous, but dangerous.  If he actually believes that if we ignore Iran that they'll just go away and leave us alone...he's so wrong.  Iran's president has vowed to destroy us and Israel...not because we're involved in their interests, but because of who we are and what we stand for.  Our existance is an afront to their religious beliefs and their beliefs call for annihilation of us, which this guy has vowed to do.

I've seen some real wacky Ron Paul followers who make the claim we can protect our own...they'll say crazy stuff like "buy a gun" "protect your own".  My response was how is that gun going to protect you from a nuke?  These Ron Paul fans really make me nervous.

How did we ever survive the Cold War with thousands of nukes aimed at us? The world should be a cold glowing sandpit by now.

Our Bill of Rights constitutes a cluster of little foxholes of liberty ground into the hard cold face of history by helpless men for a shield against the lash of tyrants. They are the result of distrust of power and distrust of men in power. They are a recognition of Lord Acton's statement of a truth eternal--"power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."R.
