Dude, Gettin Ready to Shift From Newt To Rick

Rick said that we will always have income inequality in a free society because some produce more than others. He also said Bush started this bailout crap, and he’s right. Takes guts to say those things. He is calling them very conservative these days (and very truthfully I might add). He is listening and responding to what conservatives want. Maybe he has to polish up his presentation a bit, but he’s speaking conservatism.
I have been a Newt supporter because I think Newt is the sharpest knife in the drawer, brightest bulb in the lamp, yada, yada. But, he has serious personal baggage, and we all know he just pops off way too often, seemingly uncontrollably and undisciplined at times. Would he do that in presidential debates? Maybe. I still think he’d make the best president in terms of getting things done, but I’ve also thought right along that he’s a risky candidate, mostly because of his lack of discipline, he just losses focus on the important too many times. A risky nominee.
If we have two conservatives, Santorum and Gingrich going down to the wire we’ll likely get a brokered convention, and while that might get Newt or Rick in, it might also get RINO Romney in (because you can bet that the establishment will push the delegates very hard to make that happen). Maybe we can get a conservative in on the first ballot to eliminate that possibility.
As I’ve said in previous posts, and as an opinion poll on this board has confirmed, Rick lacks charisma, but not much beyond that. He has a conservative ratings comparable to Gingrich, has no personal baggage, is a good family man, and speaks conservatism. We can drag this Santorum/Gingrich fight out and maybe get a brokered convention, but the odds are probably still against us getting a conservative, instead of Romney, nominated. Or, we can now unite behind Santorum. I am a pragmatist who wants a candidate other than RINO Romney, and at this point I think are best chances of getting that are to unite behind Rick Santorum. He has the momentum, he’s a good (not perfect) conservative, and it will hard for Obama to tear him down. I’m going to watch what happens in Michigan, but if Rick wins Michigan that seals the deal for me.

I am from GA and give up in Newt a long time ago. His attacks on the capitalist system (which has made him a ton of money) and his writing the scripts for the obozo campaign to turn into campaign ads, killed him with me. He has done more damage to the GOP name than obozo could do. But now that the GOP candidates have committed fratricide and have destroyed each other, I feel that it is a moot point who gets the nomination. Obozo is going to win the next election. Sorry, but that is the facts. The clueless GOP establishment have done such a great job of dividing the party and have made such blunders, that obozo will win hands down - no matter who is nominated. I like Rick, because he is pretty much above the fight that Newt started, but he can not beat obozo. Time to either get out of the country or get your money out of the country because after obozo wins in Nov. the gloves will come off and America will never be the same.

Welcome aboard John. The "undisciplined" things you said about Newt has been my opposition to him all along.

Rick Santorum is a world-class B.S. machine. I used to think he was a conservative, but closer examination of his record proves he is just as liberal, if not more so, than Mitt Romney and he's flip-flopped almost as many times as well. Newt Gingrich is not only the smartest candidate, he also has the best record and best ideas. Rick Santorum is a moderate, a political opportunist, and someone who is gaffe-prone.

Like the rest of you, I've watched the bickering between the pub candidates. But I haven't made a decision as yet.
I suppose I'll make one before we (CA) vote in June. However, I'm quite certain that when the time comes that we finally have one candidate,
I will support him. We simply can't take four more years of Obumbles!
Between now and November, I'm going to be trying to help every republican congressman get elected to both Senate and House!
If we fail to gain a majority in congress, you can kiss your-, ahem, "nether" regions goodby, no matter what republican is POTUS.

^^^^ Oh yeah. I'm watching, waiting, and looking to see what comes down the pike. I have two that I'm torn between, but that may change between now and election time. Just remember the All Mighty may not be.

Yeah, probably the side with all the Santorum historical research piled on it.
Rick has some serious problems for a supposed conservative with a squeaky clean record....no doubt.

Not as many, nor as serious as Newt has. Wonder what Sheldon Adelson is going to get for his $20 million?
