One of my favorite cleaning tips - mirrors.

Periodically, I had problems with streaks and film on my vanity mirror, when I cleaned it. I tried every thing I could think of but nothing really helped much. Then I realized it was probably due to hair spray film & decided to try using what I use to get hair spray out of my hair ...shampoo! Mix a few drops of shampoo with very hot water in your sink & wash the mirror with the mixture. Rinse - again using very hot water. Then clean your mirror with window cleaner. You don't need to do this every time you clean, only when you start getting streaks. I find about once every 4 to 6 weeks does the trick.

My dad would use isopropyl alcohol to clean any glass surface.

Sounds like a good trick, Yvette.   And, welcome to CF.

I've always had good luck cleaning glass wtih vinegar, using newsprint as a rag.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm really enjoying everyone's posts, here. Smiley

I don't have problems getting other glass clean, usually just use Windex or for heavy-duty spring window washing, ammonia & water. It was just that vanity mirror... nothing seemed to cut the hair spray film. Thinking about it, possibly the problem is the Paul Mitchell hair spray I've been using for the past year, because I don't remember having this problem before.  I border on being anal retentive, so little things like streaky mirrors or windows irritate me.

My ex used newspaper and vinegar.  But, do you REALLY have to be near a mirror to use hairspray?  I can cut my hair with a Flowbee without looking in the mirror.
