FL TEACHER BANNED BIBLE FROM 'FREE READING' TIME IN CLASSROOM.

Giovanni Rubeo is a fifth-grade student at the school, who had been given a Bible at church as a Christmas gift. It’s his favorite book, so he decided he’d like to read it during the time in class where students are allowed to read anything they choose.
Swornia Thomas is Giovanni’s teacher. On April 8, Thomas told Giovanni he’s not allowed to read the Bible in her class and ordered him to put it away. Giovanni asked her to call his father, Paul Rubeo, about the incident.
Thomas did so, leaving a voicemail that included, “I noticed that he [Giovanni] has a book—a religious book—in the classroom. He’s not permitted to read those books in my classroom.” Rubeo then contacted the school’s principal, Orinthia Dias, who brought in the school’s legal department. None of them are willing to acknowledge that Giovanni has a constitutional right to read the Bible.>snip<

So the students can read "anything" they want, but not the Bible. Roll Eyes

If I was that student's parents I'd hire a lawyer to find out exactly what my son's rights are!!!  Then I'd sue the school board, the school, and the teacher.

That student should be allowed to read ANY book he chooses on his own time.

I could show you a scripture in Daniel where God foretold this, but Wayne sent me a message telling me not to post any more Bible verses.  Pity.

Please don't take umbrage to this.

There is a reason CF does not have a Religion forum.

Reasons are stated on Info forum.

http://www.conservativesforum.com/cgi-bin/conservatives-forum/YaBB.pl?num=122868...

And we do not wish to get into debate about the issue.

Occasional comment isn't a problem but CF is not a Sunday school
forum and such consistent topics are more in line with the Conspiracy Forum that is provided.

http://www.conservativesforum.com/cgi-bin/conservatives-forum/YaBB.pl?board=theo...

Others here are interested in prophecy (including myself since early 1970's) but I think most would prefer to seek those more qualified to give reference to such issues.  Perhaps a John Hagee or Hal Lindsey Forum may be more suitable to discuss these matters on.

I think most would prefer to keep the topic in line with the political
view for now.   I hope you understand and can continue to share your views in that manner.  Thanks.

I get what you're saying.  Problem is,  I see little difference in the banning of Bible reading in the classroom, and the banning of scriptures on this forum.
Heck,  the liberal forums are more tolerant of God and the scriptures than this so-called "Conservative" one!  Who'd a thunk it?!

"So called' Conservative forum?  Huh

Well, heck, then, let me help you 'out', then.

Being you can't seem to grasp the 'simple' concept of why we don't have a Religion forum, and you seem to think liberal forums are more tolerant, and you are unable to be as tolerant yourself to accept the
respectful and courteous post I have offered you, I suggest you go post on those most tolerant liberal fora then.

I was hoping you would be able to understand that we would prefer to read 'consistent' scripture from those 'more qualified' to do so.

We sure wouldn't wish to see you 'strain' yourself to post on a forum you perceive on being a 'so called' Conservative forum.

btw......how would you know what the liberal forums are tolerant of?
Do you post on liberal forums?  Or even read them?  I surely don't!
I would think only 'so called' Conservatives do.

Sounds like a possible case of 'hypocrite heal thyself' to me!  Huh

And please, at least don't be so dishonest as to go whining on some other fora that you were banned for posting scripture when that was not the reason.  If you actually walked your talk you would know the real reason.  Wink

Have a great day my friend.  I do hope you'll be able to turn the other cheek.
