It's Easy Being Green When You Have No Choice

I heard the guy who evidently was involved in the making of this documentary, last night on Bill Cunningham's Sunday night syndicated radio show, that he took over from Matt Drudge several years ago. It looks like it's a good one.

Tell me about it.  I recently replaced a toilet that now meets the low flush requirements.  Only problem with it, is that it takes at least two if not three flushes to do what it's supposed to do..   Smiley

My daughter is visiting California.

They automatically turn your electrical devices off after 1/2 hour.  The unplugged a tiny nightlight she brought with her.

They leave signs in your room NOT to have your sheets/towels replaced every day to save water by not laundering them.

You have to beg for a glass of water in a restaurant.

She said businesses get fined if they go over water or electricity.

She read me an ad for a "waterless" car wash.  Like to see that work here in Illinois with an inch of road salt on our cars.

We have useless laws on top of even more useless laws.  Light blubs for those of us who still read are a thing of the past. Even how much water a toilet can use. Only place to buy a decent toilet that does the job is in Canada and that may have also changed. Real muscle cars are almost gone, now it's a little coffin on wheels that gets plugged in at night. Totally worthless at -40 and deep snow. Now it's the food police !  It NEVER ends and we STILL tolerate the insanity .

Maybe the next thing is they will monitor for how many flushes you make!

That is precisely why I still have my pink and green toilets from 1979. I don't care how they look. I will cry when they break.

.

I find it amazing to look at how hard our founding fathers fought to win our freedoms, yet today so many are so willing to throw it all away for a stupid dog and pony show.

They automatically turn your electrical devices off after 1/2 hour. The unplugged a tiny nightlight she brought with her. (Who is "they"?? If it's the maid in a hotel, they WILL turn off the things you leave ON--like TV's, radios, etc. Even nite lights! Some people forget to turn off the coffee maker--dangerous habit!)
Nobody turns my lights off. In fact, my wife goes around behind my back, turning lights off, to save money. Nothing to do with climate!

They leave signs in your room NOT to have your sheets/towels replaced every day to save water by not laundering them. (Yep! I always thought this was logical. After all, YOU don't change your sheets at home every day. (And if you do, you suffer from OCD! Grin )

You have to beg for a glass of water in a restaurant. (All I do is ASK. They bring it right away--right along with my glass of wine!)

She said businesses get fined if they go over water or electricity. (Very true in So. Cal's, Los Angeles--not all over the state--but LA depends on Colorado river water and Northern California's Sacramento river. They don't HAVE any of their own.)

She read me an ad for a "waterless" car wash. Like to see that work here in Illinois with an inch of road salt on our cars. (I'm very familiar with road salt. Says something for living in Kalitoonia, doesn't it? Never had THAT particular problem here--unless we drive up into the Sierra's, which, by the way, until this year has always had more snow than any of the lower 48. )

I think somebody has a "mythical" view of CA.

Oh, I forgot one final note:

I recently replaced both of my toilets.  I got rid of the puny flushers. 2 or 3 flushes to get rid of a Kleenex--the rest of the time we spent hours plunging hell out of those creatures!
Anyway, I bought two Kohlers and they flush, first time, every time. --and nobody can complain, because they're low flow!  Wink
