Scott Walker on immigration: ‘My view has changed’
03/01/15 at 10:43:45
Print Post
Quote:
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says his views have changed on immigration — and he doesn’t support amnesty for undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.

Pressed about previous statements in which he allowed that immigrants who are currently in the U.S. illegally could stay if they payed certain penalties, Walker said in an interview aired on “Fox News Sunday”: “My view has changed, I’m flat-out saying it. Candidates can say that, sometimes they don’t.”

“I don’t believe in amnesty, and part of the reason that I made that a firm position is because I look at the way this president has mishandled that issue,” Walker said, explaining his views changed after talking to border-state governors and others close to the immigration issue.

Am I to understand he's still for Amnesty?

Remember Amnesty basically just means forgiveness. Do not confuse citizenship.
The Undermining of this great nation continues. The benefits of this do not out way the 'consequences' of all this.

Like I always said since day one. Immigration is what separates the "Men from the boy's"!

This is the kind of stuff folks that Ancient Rome would have done!

I am still a little unclear, but I don't have a problem with a candidate changing their mind on something.

As long as they flat out admit it before being elected and are crystal clear about it.

Our immigration is a mess and needs to be dealt with once and for all.  It's also not just about the people getting here from Mexico.  The system itself is not efficient and allows too many things to fall through the cracks.  Just like I mentioned in an earlier thread, almost half the expired visas, we have no idea where these people are.

This idea of "comprehensive immigration reform" is not how it should be done.  It needs to have each segment of our system looked at, and fixed before tackling another one.  Of course first is to "secure the border" and send any newcomers back come, to stop the bleeding.

11 million?  No way.  That's the same number Bush used, how many years ago?

The 11 million figure is at least 20 years old.  It was wrong then and even more wrong now.  Best guess estimates says about 30M but may run as high as 60M with more pouring in daily.
Until American citizens fix this problems themselves nothing is going to be done to stop the flood and start deporting and/or cut off any and all benefits to illegals. Our elected officials in both political parties have already proved they are not willing to enforce our immigration laws.  We became a nation that can pick and choose which laws we wish to obey and the general public said nothing.

How about this as a solution to the wetback problem. We move our southern border 2,600 miles to the southwest. If that doesn't work, then we jus' keep moving it south for another 7,200 miles.

If you really want to know Scott Walker's position on immigration, read Rush's interview of him in the March 2015 issue of The Limbaugh Letter.

He is adamantly opposed to amnesty, "we have to secure our borders, not just because of immigration, but because it's a national security threat..." He also said, "We should not let anybody over the border illegally. It's a security risk."
