In this case, for the same reason!

They are SO RUDE to many callers.  If they don't want callers, don't take callers.  Callers actually add little to the show, so I wouldn't miss them.

But, if they are going to invite callers, and they do, why not at least be polite?  Cutting them off, telling them they have only 9 seconds, or being dismissive of them, just doesn't cut it with me.

Rush Limbaugh is usually extremely polite, will hold callers over the "breaks," and doesn't act rude to them.  Sean Hannity is polite also.

I have tuned OUT of both of these shows for their rudeness.

It's all Shtick.  It's an act.  It sells soap flakes.
Think of it like cowboy actors shooting at each other  during filming  and then going to the cafeteria during lunch break and having a pleasant conversation over sandwiches.

You don't remember  Morton Downy?
RAGE RAGE RAGE
That's his model.   Downy pioneered it and people like Savage and Levin are  his acolytes.

RAGE RAGE RAGE   And then there are all the over statements that these people make.   They take things that on the face should maybe be something you'd be concerned about  (or not) and blow them all out of proportion.  It sells soap flakes.
And when they have something genuine   - - well they really work that squeeze box.

There's a demographic for whom this is a fabulous marketing model.  The actors generally are not what they appear to be. Take Morton Downy, He was a pal of the Clintons  hung out with lots of Dems and generally was absolutely nothing at all like his public persona on his TV show.
While I'll bet that people like Levin are more or less conservative there is  no amount of convincing any one can do to convince me that there people are anything like their radio or TV show personalities.

It's all Shtick.

I've given up on all of it.  I can't stand the loud argumentative personalities.  I can't stand it when they get people trying to shout over each other. Half the time all sides are wrong about something.
I don't watch any of the MSNBC, FOX,  or CNN opinion people. They are just too shrill and argumentative for me.

I wasn't in the market for soap flakes anyway.

I can't either so I just change the radio or TV station and go somewhere else, or shut the thing off.

I love to listen to Mark Levin, but he's on in the evening when it's inconvenient to listen. I have been listening to Rush almost every day since 1992. I even listened to him on a tiny portable radio when we toured the Mendenhall Glacier, near Juneau, Alaska.

My favorite of the radio show hosts has always been Rush Limbaugh. I particularly liked it when he did the really funny stuff in the earlier days. Even though he has toned down much of the humor and used less monikers (for example, "Meet The Depressed" instead of "Meet The Press") over the years, he is still quite good. Maybe it's because, that he's so concerned about the state of the country these days, it is harder for him to make jokes about it. For example, some of the stuff that he used to joke about actually came true. I can't really name any examples right away, though. I go to his website every day after 5:00PM, to see what he had for topics on that given day.

I actually first became more familiar with him from his TV show. When Bill Clinton first got elected President in 1992, I wasn't pleased. Later that night, I was up past midnight, and found Rush Limbaugh's TV show. I immediately took a liking to him. At first, I thought that he was a satirist, or even a comedian, but later found out that he is a commentator. It was some months later that I discovered his radio show, which I eventually tuned into after awhile. As time went on, I was beginning to learn exactly what a liberal is, and exactly what a conservative is. Believe it or not, I once thought that political correctness was actually a conservative thing, until Rush mentioned about a "Politically Incorrect Picnic." I also started to notice the liberal slant of many publications and broadcasts, whereas I didn't notice anything at first.

Besides Rush Limbaugh,  another one of my favorite hosts is Sean Hannity. Glenn Beck's show is also good sometimes. I have not listened to Michael Savage or Mark Levin that much, but they both sound less nice, although I would probably agree with them most of the time. Mark, to me, often sounds too angry, and Michael sounds like he could be a little too bitter. Humor is actually the best thing to have, which is why I like Rush in the first place.

Michael Savage is an idiot, wrapped in a moron, inside an enema. Anybody who gets his information from him would be better off sticking an icepick in his ear.

I'm grateful to Rush for revolutionizing AM radio and the talk format, but I have to confess I'm more eager to listen to his show when Mark Steyn is filling in.
