Trump’s Options for North Korea Include Placing Nukes in South Korea
by William M. Arkin, Cynthia McFadden, Kevin Monahan and Robert Windrem    NBCNews

The National Security Council has presented President Trump with options to respond to North Korea's nuclear program — including putting American nukes in South Korea or killing dictator Kim Jong-un, multiple top-ranking intelligence and military officials told NBC News.

Both scenarios are part of an accelerated review of North Korea policy prepared in advance of President Donald Trump's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week.

The White House hopes the Chinese will do more to influence Pyongyang through diplomacy and enhanced sanctions. But if that fails, and North Korea continues its development of nuclear weapons, there are other options on the table that would significantly alter U.S. policy.

Good idea?  Bad idea?  Would that be comparable to when
the USSR tried to place nukes on Cuba?  Wouldn't it probably
compel North Korea to pre-emptive strike South Korea?

Expert: Watch to see if Kim Jong-Un goes into hiding after Syria strike
By Alyssa Madruga   FoxNews.com

The U.S. bombardment of a Syrian airbase just outside of Homs Friday was likely seen by North Korea as a clear warning that President Trump will use his military if United States interests are at risk.

The immediate focus after the strikes was on Russia’s Vladimir Putin’s reaction. Russia was not happy with the U.S., it spoke in defense of Syria and moved warships. But now the attention is on the next move by another world leader: Kim Jong-Un.

North Korea calls U.S. strikes on Syria 'unforgivable'
By Ju-min Park and Jack Kim  World News

North Korea said on Saturday U.S. missile strikes against a Syrian airfield on Friday were "an unforgivable act of aggression" that showed its decision to develop nuclear weapons was "the right choice a million times over".

"The U.S. missile attack against Syria is a clear and unforgivable act of aggression against a sovereign state and we strongly condemn this," KCNA quoted an unnamed spokesman for the North Korean foreign ministry as saying.

North Korea vows to bolster its defenses, says Syria airstrikes prove its nukes justified
FoxNews.com

North Korea vowed to bolster its defenses to protect itself against airstrikes similar to the ones President Donald Trump ordered on Friday against a Syrian airbase.

North Korea called the strikes "absolutely unpardonable,” saying they prove its nuclear weapons are justified to protect the country against Washington's "evermore reckless moves for a war."

Trump warns China on North Korea: Help solve the problem or 'we will'
By Cody Derespina    FoxNews.com

President Trump on Tuesday said North Korea “is looking for trouble” and vowed to get the murderous regime of dictator Kim Jong-Un under control with or without China’s help.

Trump sent the warning in a pair of tweets just days after he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. China traditionally has acted as a counterweight on North Korea, helping to moderate some actions of the isolated country. Trump indicated a favorable trade deal could await China if they stepped up pressure on North Korea; however, Trump also appeared ready to reign in the provocative nation on his own.

North Korea vows 'catastrophic consequences' for US aircraft carrier dispatch
FoxNews.com

North Korea is vowing tough counteraction to any military moves that might follow the U.S. move to send the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier and its battle group to waters off the Korean Peninsula.

The statement from Pyongyang comes as tensions on the divided peninsula are high because of U.S.-South Korea wargames now underway and recent ballistic missile launches by the North. Pyongyang sees the annual maneuvers as a dress rehearsal for invasion, while the North's missile launches violate U.N. resolutions.

North Korea warns of a nuclear attack against the US

North Korea may soon conduct its sixth nuclear test in the face of the United States' decision to move a carrier group toward the region.

Satellite imagery shows activity at the Punggye-ri testing site, analysts from 38 North, a U.S. research institute that monitors North Korea, wrote on its website Wednesday.

Foreign journalists inside the country were told to prepare for a "big and important event" Thursday, Reuters reported.

Trump weighs sanctions, other measures against North Korea
FoxNews.com

The Trump administration is weighing the possibility of imposing additional sanctions on North Korea if the rogue nation continues to fire missiles or conducts its sixth nuclear test.

“We are exploring a new range of diplomatic, security, and economic measures in response to the North Korean regime's continued provocations. North Korea must understand that the only path to a secure, economically-prosperous future is to abandon its development of nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and other weapons of mass destruction,” an administration official told Fox Business Network.

North Korea rolls out missiles, other weaponry at annual parade
FoxNews.com

North Korea paraded its intercontinental ballistic missiles on Saturday in a massive military display in central Pyongyang amid rising tensions across the region.

Kim Jong-Un did not speak during the parade, the annual highlight of North Korea's most important holiday, which celebrates the 1912 birthday of his grandfather, Kim Il Sung, the country’s founding ruler.

FoxNews.com

A missile fired from North Korea’s east coast Sunday “blew up almost immediately,” the U.S. Pacific Command said.

The launch came near the city of Sinpo and one day after one of the biggest North Korean propaganda events of the year – celebrations of the 105th birthday of late North Korea found Kim Il Sunday.
