Ailes denies allegations in Gretchen Carlson harassment suit as Fox News launches investigation
By Howard Kurtz   FoxNews.com

Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes responded forcefully Wednesday night to a lawsuit filed by Gretchen Carlson after her contract was not renewed as a daytime host at the network, calling the allegations “false” and “offensive.”

In the wake of Carlson’s suit against Ailes, which alleged sexual harassment and wrongful termination, the network’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, said it had launched an internal review of conduct by Ailes and by Steve Doocy, Carlson’s former co-host on “Fox & Friends.” The statement said the company has “full confidence” in Ailes and Doocy.

Roger Ailes resigns as Fox News chairman, Rupert Murdoch assumes acting role
By Howard Kurtz   FoxNews.com

Roger Ailes resigned Thursday as chairman of Fox News, Fox Business and Fox television stations, effective immediately, in the wake of a sexual harassment lawsuit that led to days of negotiations about his departure.

Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of parent company 21st Century Fox, who hired Ailes to launch Fox News two decade ago, said in a company statement that he would take over as chairman and acting CEO of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network.

Ever wonder why you rarely hear of this happening at CNN? Fox has this habit of hiring attractive ladies for those spots. Can you imagine any aging executive making a play for that cow Candy Crowley?

Gretchen Carlson harassment suit against Roger Ailes settled
By Howard Kurtz   FoxNews.com

The lawsuit that led to Roger Ailes’s abrupt departure as chairman of Fox News has been settled.

The settlement includes an apology to former Fox host Gretchen Carlson, whose sexual harassment suit against Ailes prompted an internal inquiry by the network’s parent company, which quickly resulted in Ailes’ resignation under pressure as other female Fox personnel made allegations of harassment.

A news release today from the parent company, 21st Century Fox, did not disclose the terms. But Vanity Fair quoted three people familiar with the settlement as saying that Carlson would receive $20 million under the settlement.
