How is it regressive Chort when everyone pays the same rate?

Educate me?

I am surprised you would not know this.  It is indeed a fact.

"A regressive tax is a tax that takes a larger percentage of income from low-income earners than from high-income earners. It is in opposition with a progressive tax, which takes a larger percentage from high-income earners. A regressive tax is generally a tax that is applied uniformly to all situations, regardless of the payer."

Gee, kind of sensitive today aren't we. = The day that you post a public message and don't want just anyone to answer it is the day that you need to start sending private messages.

The only point I tried to make on taxes is that "we" are being taxed to death ... FAIR tax, or not.     I have to rent a car this week in California.    I pay $30 a day, plus an additional $33 in taxes and fees.    I pay $450 for a plane ticket, plus an additional $125 in taxes and fees.    We paid for the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act ... for the support and defense of unisex bathrooms ... for Obama phones ... Cash for Clunkers ... bailouts of financial corporations ... underwater private mortgages ... wars that should have (and could have) been ended 10 years ago.   We pay for illegal immigration ... bridges to nowhere.    We, the taxpayer, will insure private property in hurricane zones that insurance companies won't even insure.  Whatever happened to personal responsibility?    Solar panels.   How many solar companies have we financed that went belly-up?    The federal government needs to go back to its original job description ... arbitrate disputes between the states, conduct foreign policy, provide for a common defense, etc.    I'm sick and tired of sending $100 to Washington, so Washington can skim off $75, and then have my state senators brag about bringing $25 back to my state in the form of a new bridge, named after the senators who managed to grab the $25 before another state grabbed it.   I'm tired of these expenditures being approved between midnight and 2:00 am, hidden in the middle of the Defense bill.   I'm sick and tired of paying for the irresponsibility and stupidity of other people.    And, I'm sick and tired of the liberals trying to put me on a guilt trip for not wanting to hold hands and tip-toe through the tulips.   I do not, and have not, ever believed in guilt.   It leads to insanity.

And, BTW, my name is Cheryl.

i'm with you Cheryl.

Hey, I want the Fed incometax gone. A 'pipe dream'.It should have never happened in the first place. It enables most of what you mentioned. It opened the doors for socialism down the road.

Another 'pipe dream' is the Fairtax, It's been around a long time. At least everyone has skin in the game.
