Anyone worth his salt, if a gun guy or gal, has a favorite.

What's yours?

Mine is the 1911.  45 acp is preferred but other calibers in that configuration will not be cast aside.

I'm currently enamored with the EAA Witness in 10mm.  I chose the caliber because it offers more in terms of velocity.  I am a long time handloader and so far have settled on 135 gr. JHP projectile.  Using Blue Dot powder I have achieved velocities of just under 1700 fps.  The FPE should be close to 700.  Recoil is very light and it's easy to keep the barrel on target.  Very unlike the 180-240 grain projectiles.

Prior to this I enjoyed my .357 wheel gun.  It's a Rugar New Model Blackhawk in stainless, single action 6 inch barrel.  I currently use 140gr JHP from Hornady with 2400 as the powder.

UCAV I have a S&W 1006 in 10mm. Good piece. I just transferred a 9mm EAA Witness to a local retired deputy. Currently hipping dept. issued plastic Glock mod 22. I guess, truth be known, if it goes BANG I like it. Cool

I hear ya!  As long as they are reliable!  I don't know if you are aware of this but the EAA Witness line is actually manufactured by Tangfolio, in Italy.  They are a spin off from Barretta over there.

I've kind of been looking at the S&W M&P line.  Nice guns!  A lot of bang for the buck!

I wasn't aware of EAA line tied with Beretta. That is good info. The M&P line is good. Before my boating accident, in which I lost a number of guns off the coast of S.C., I had an M&P .40.

I have several friends that swear by the M&P line.  Like the EAA line, you get a lot of bang for your buck.  The Delta Elite is still the best looking, smoothest shooting semi-auto in my book though, but damn they are expensive!

In pistol I would have to go with the Colt M1911A1
For .22 cal plinking rifle I would say either the Ruger 10-22 or the Remington Nylon 66.
For varmits, I would have to pick a Stevens 30-30
Open range big game a Winchester Model 70 30.06
Close in woods hunting Winchester Model 1894 .32 Special
Shot gun; Home defense Winchester Model 10 12 Ga.
hunting Winchester Winchoke 1200 12 Ga.

As in golf you never can use jus' one club for all situstions.

The only controls I want on my guns are the ones I operate by myself, such as safety, magazine release, bolt or slide, optics an' trigger. Any others are unnecessary.
