Too many great firearms to mention but I am currently using a Kel-Tec PLR 16 and I am enjoying it a lot so I got to mention it.

The more guns you have the better. You need to have a hadgun for personal protection, shotgun for home defense and rifle to be able to protect your country.

I like Remington 870, Glock-17 and AR-15

Firearms are just tools.  Does one have a favorite pair of pliers, or a favorite screwdriver?

Just be sure to use the right tool for the job.  You don't want to be plinking squirrels with a Remington .458 Win. Mag., and you don't want to be brandishing a .22 cal. pistol when staring down a grizzly bear.   Cheesy

Hello all,
My preferred firearm of choice is .30-30 Winchester.  Although I do prefer several others.

I love those levers, too. My fave is the Marlin 39A, especially the straight-grip with 20" barrel.

One of these;

My longer version of the Ruger Amphibian, or Yoda's walking stick.  It is longer and weighs more than the Amphibian, but the unported barrel doesn't slow down the ammo so much and it is about the same noise level as an air pistol.

Rem M700 338 RUM.  For when I want to touch something a mile away.

LAR Big Bore in 50BMG.  For when I want to put a hole in something made from metal a mile away.

Savage 10FCM in 338 Whisper.  When I want to harvest der without making much noise.

Savage MKII.  For whacking steel at 200 yards.

Anschutz 8001.  Not a firearm, but for when I need to put ten 17 cal pellets into the same 5mm wide hole at ten meters.

Actually I do have a favorite pair of pliers, and a favorite screwdriver. My favorites are more comfortable to grip and do the job better than others in my toolbox.

I would imagine everyone has their favorite tools. Some people really like Craftsman, while other insist on Snap-On. It's a matter of personal preference.

And firearms, same thing. It's an individual preference. I've seen many praise the AR-15 platform, and they have good reasons for doing so. I am not a fan. For me ARs are too difficult to clean. So many nooks and crannies for dirt to hide.  But, again, personal preference. Lot of people like the 5.56/.223 round. I prefer the heavier 30 caliber rounds; .308/7.62.

For handgun, I chose 9mm primarily due to ammunition costs. I figure I can practice a lot more due to the cost of 9mm compared to .45 or other heavier rounds; and when it comes to defense, a hit with a 9mm round is far better than a miss with a .45. 9mm is also better choice for both my wife and daughter as far as control and accuracy.

My primary home defense firearm is a .30 M1 carbine on paratrooper stock. It's a fun little rifle to go plinking with, the folding stock makes it very compact, and the 105gr hollowpoints will most definitely make any intruder wish they stayed home - for the few seconds it takes them to expire after I shoot them.

For national defense, I went with 7.62x39. Inexpensive ammunition, though not super accurate, allows for lots of very fun practice, and practice makes for better ability later. Price difference between 7.62x39 and 5.56x45 is shrinking, but even now is still real enough.  For long distance (Hunting and other LD applications) I have a custom built 30.06, 03/A3 action with 24" match barrel. A real tack driver that's put a lot of meat on my table over the years.

But, like I said, it's all personal preference. Been looking at the idea of an AR10, even though I still think the AR is a bee-eye-tee-see-aitch to properly clean. Also time to get the daughter her own rifle. An AR-15, light, low kick, etc. may be right up her alley. (And since SHE will be cleaning it.....)
