More U.S. troops may be sent into Syria to fight ISIS
By David Martin CBS News

Gen. Joseph Votel, the commander of American forces in the Middle East, said Wednesday that in order to maintain momentum in the push to liberate the Syrian city of Raqqa from the ISIS militants who have made it their de-facto capital, the U.S. might “take on a larger burden ourselves.”

General says Russia bombed site near US forces in Syria in ISIS fight
FoxNews.com

Russian air forces bombed a site perilously close to U.S. troops in Syria on Tuesday, a near-miss in the fog of war against the Islamic State -- though the strikes still hit U.S.-backed forces.

U.S. Lt. Army Gen. Stephen Townsend said Wednesday the incident occurred after Russian pilots began bombing what they thought were ISIS fighters in a “bunch of villages” in northern Syria.

They ended up hitting forces with the U.S.-backed Syrian Arab Coalition.

I think it's crucial that they communicate together with this
fight against ISIS, otherwise it will just be a matter of time

Marines arrive in Syria in support of fight for Raqqa, defense official says
By Lucas Tomlinson   FoxNews.com

A detachment of U.S Marines arrived in Syria outside the ISIS de-facto capital of Raqqa, a U.S. defense official confirmed Wednesday to Fox News.

The Pentagon is not publically confirming the move, citing operational security.

The recent deployment is expected to be discussed Thursday when the head of U.S. Central Command, Gen. Joe Votel, the top U.S. general responsible for American forces in the Middle East, appears before Congress to testify on the ISIS fight.

Assad: Trump shows nothing 'concrete' in ISIS effort; calls foreign troops 'invaders'
FoxNews.com

Syrian President Bashar Assad says President Trump has so far failed to show “anything concrete” toward his pledge to defeat the Islamic State terror group and calls U.S. forces inside his country “invaders.”

“We haven't seen anything concrete yet regarding this rhetoric," Assad said in an interview published Saturday. “We have hopes that this administration... is going to implement what we have heard.”
