I thought it was funny, but I'm a technical guy, proper english sucks!  Grin

I'm a technical guy (math, chemistry, computer science), but I had a top-notch, old-style English teacher in my Junior and Senior years in high school and I still remember most of the rules she used to drum into us every day.

I went to a Catholic grammar school.  English was a huge subject for them.  They were NOT kidding around when they made us diagram sentences and emphasize PROPER use of the English language.  They also had us SPELL properly!

I have kind of passed this on to my daughter, and she writes beautifully.

When my family was embroiled in a legal issue, I was ASTONISHED as to how $350/hour attorneys couldn't produce a document or even e-mail that was worth it.  Writing well always makes one look GOOD!

Are you an English/grammer teacher?

No, just a spelling teacher.

I agree that proper writing can not be stressed enough.  I sure hated learning what Gerunds and Dangling Participles were, but it is very important.  This is something that is very fast slipping away as people write just anyway in text messages.

The federal employees will be eliminated via RIF (Reduction in Force) procedures. Many, no doubt, will be able to retire (due to job abolishment) and start collecting their monthly retirement annuity. So now they won't be doing anything and getting paid for it. But at least they won't now be in a position to cause further damage to President Trump.

The balance of the other employees not eligible for retirement will be given severance pay in amounts based on years of service. Or, unless federal hiring is totally stopped, displaced employees will be given priority placement with other federal agencies (before any outside people can be hired).

So, the upshot is, what ever direct savings are realized by the elimination of all those federal jobs, some of it will be offset by retirement annuity and severance pay. Still, it's a much better deal for the taxpayer by downsizing the federal government.

A forum can't be a forum without the three nazi's.

The spelling nazi.

The grammar nazi.

The punctuation nazi.
