All the outcry over funding of Meals on Wheels has me snickering.  The program won't die...communities will support it...just like they did before the federal dollars came flowing.

My mother would never use meals on wheels. Mostly she felt the food was slop. How awesome would it be if like Kickstarter or something started a private program that got paid by medicaid (in my state a lot of these programs to keep elders in their homes are funded by medicaid) and they got good meals.

Local news this morning (NBC) played a CNN piece about the after school programs that will be cut. Two questions, why is NBC playing a CNN hit job instead of doing their own?  and number 2...why is the government in the "after school" program business anyway?   Seems like that would be another program that should be funded/supported by the community. I think the tentacles the feds have in the communities are far reaching...food, community buildings, government housing, schools..............

It isn't only After School.  In Houston there are billboards in the Summer that advertise certain schools are open for free lunch to kids.  Silly me, I always thought it was the parents job to provide for their kids.

It's all part of their "cradle to grave agenda" for a few votes.  We the people got this because we were too busy with our own lives, careers, etc.  We finally start to wake up and it's "Surprise!"

Our school district was begging for the community at large to eat lunch in the school cafeteria a few years ago....they had money to burn for free meals.  My grandson is apparently one of the few in school that does not qualify for free meals.  Every year their "nutritional assistant" sends me papers to fill out in the hopes that he will qualify. They hit the big round file 13 around here. But think about it...school is paying a "nutritional assistant" to be sure that as many kids as can get free meals.
