Speak for yourself, Big!  When I was a kid "The Creature from The Black Lagoon" was a staple part of weekend sleep overs!  We'd stay up all night eating popcorn and watching cheesy monster movies!  Grin

We sure did! And laughed at the air bubbles exiting out the top of the creature's head. We also loved watching the original dubbed b/w Godzilla movie. It was hysterical to watch the actors mouths moving in Japanese but hearing the dialog in English. We also cheered those toy tanks and airplanes spitting out those fireworks at the monster. Did you also like the old RKO pics? Bela Lugosi as Dracula is one of my favorite classics. We also liked the outer space stuff, The Day The Earth Stood Still, with Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal  Smiley and Attack of the Flying Saucers. That was just plain good Saturday night viewing (still is when the retro channels run them).

Yes!  Watched all of those, and collected the models too!  I built every monster model made!

There was a movie in the 50's where people from space came down and were replacing the population with identical people that grew in Pods.  I can not think of the name. == They did a remake of it in the 70's.  It was even worse than the original.  This is killing, tell me the name of it.

A trip down memory lane...anybody remember Triffids?  Our TV viewing at present is the entire series of "In the Heat of the Night" .  We have already done MASH, All in the Family and Golden Girls. I will be on the hunt for something else to fill up the DVR soon.

James Arness made up as the Thing didn't do it justice.

Being in black and white and usually shown on the channels
with not the best reception back then, did not really highlight
the best special effects.

It was hard to see the spikes on his hands.

Now in the remake, it had some freaky special effects.  Cheesy

I used to enjoy the old William Castle horror flicks like
"House on Haunted Hill", "13 Ghosts", and "Mr. Sardonicus".

Although there were some remakes of a couple of them, I still
liked the old original black and whites.   They left more to the
imagination.

That face of Sardonicus freaked me out when I was a kid.
