Well, whatever happened in the past, what do we do now? We can't change history but can we fix the situation? How do we do it? Do we put boots on the ground? Carpet bombing? Strategic bombing? Do we use our nukes?

Unfortunately, we dismantled our neutron war heads that basically microwaved any flesh being on the ground, cities, armies. No radiation. The Chinese continued development.

We nearly lost it all in the very beginning when everything had been pushed back south to the City of Pusan. That was hanging on by the fingernails. So would it have been better to settle it then when the Chinese infantry communicated by bugle and their troops marched barefoot in the snow or now after Bill Clinton gave them precise targeting technology for their ICBM's? With the Yalu river between us and them & the bridges down things would have been better. Hesitation and timidity have gotten more people killed. We are eventually going to have to fix that UN cluster screwup and it is really going to cost us now. The Chinese defeated us? Wow, I know some ex-Marines that would have a rather violent reaction to that.

I don't disagree that it would have been better to end the North Korean situation back in 1950. Perhaps if Ridgeway had been given MacArthur's command earlier we would have. What I disagree with is your assertion that crossing the Yalu would have changed MacArthur's inept advance. If those jarheads would have a bad reaction they should take a good hard look at themselves. What would you call having your offensive blunted, being forced to retreat hundreds of miles, and losing Seoul again? Doesn't sound like victory to me.

God Bless him for his sacrifice. I hope he had a full and wonderful life when he came back. My Dads brother made it thru, but in essence died in Korea. He drank heavy to try to dull memories, I call a gentle drunk. Knowing what he did, what he went thru, it is hard to imagine that gentle soul as violent.

Thanks to the last administration politics there are still nearly unrecovered 4,000 US Mias in North korea.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_in_action

Had Obuma actually followed through on negoations with North Korea the US would have been in a stronger neogoation position:
Had many of our sons remains been recovered:
1) There would have brought sorrowful relief to families of the missing -instead of making them continually wait for 60 years of anguish... Cry Cry Cry
2) North Korea could not have neither sent a message that they were moving en masse the remains of 5,000 US MIAS-nor used their remains as a bargaining chip for concessions the us cannot afford to lose. Angry Angry Angry
3) The US would send a strong message we would go anywhere to recover our missing sons-and we are not to be trifled with.  Angry Angry Angry
But thanks to obuma policy of no policy except loud words...no results ......................

True, it is a "what if". However, if the whole UN army was very nearly destroyed in the actual battle I don't see how having a river to their rear would have improved the situation.

What if...the idea was not shelved to invade, but plan was made using thought out strategy and changing Commanders(not Mac)

Nothing in war is 100% but it's possible. MacArthur was a terrible commander who ran the war from his HQ in Tokyo instead of on the ground in the actual theater of war. I honestly don't get the admiration some have for the man. He had one brilliant success (Inchon) and a multitude of costly failures (losing the Phillipines, the first few months of the Korean war, the advance to the Yalu, etc...).
