In this video KUNTAR tackles "Secular Talk's" Minimum Wage argument for which they boldly proclaim... has no counter argument.  Well, we'll just see about that...

By 2025 AI and full robotics will be common, so every minimum wage job will be evolved out of existence anyway.

The talk shouldn't be about minimum wage, the talk should be what does the world do with a billion people instantly taken out of the work force?

Agreed and by then I assume we will be taxing the robots or the country will not be able to feed the Liberals and Democrats!

That would actually be a different discussion.  This is a response to leftists arguments about implementing and raising the minimum wage, not a response to a yet-to-be-realized possible future.  That's something that can certainly be discussed, but it is not what is being discussed here.

Now, if we do talk about this possible future, "we" don't decide what billions of people do.  Individuals decide what to do with their own lives.  As conservative small Government people, we should understand that central planning is an evil that should be avoided as much as possible.

Agreed.  But... The government is always slow to the game and the moment AI is truly invented, the world is going to change overnight and some people are predicting by 2025 AI will be here.

As a small government conservative myself, I realize that in the past there was always a free market solution to every technological change our country has faced.

But in a very plausible near future, the technological change has no free market solution because it will eliminate 80% of all jobs from burger flippers, to manufacturing, to bank tellers and to even stockbrokers, CPA's, doctors and teachers.

They keep talking about changing the tax code so it can be filed on a post card.  Can you picture the unemployed accountants and various other college degree people out of a job with a simple thing changed like the tax code?

How many accountants have been replaced over the years by a computer and Turbo Tax, or other similar software?  Answer:  A bunch!

Minimum wage is a very complex issue.  It used to be easy.  Those jobs were NOT meant to support someone, much less a family.

They were starter jobs with the expectation that one would progress to a higher wage.  Now, the economy is upside down.

Many of these jobs are really not worth, say, $15/hour to the employer.  We all know they will raise prices too.  So the consumer is hurt, as usual.

Now, higher paying jobs are mostly not being created.  I have seen it first hand with my daughter.  College degree and not jobs out there.  We have a whole generation of young people who will never have our road to prosperity.  They are not the jobs we could get, with decent wages, benefits, and upward mobility.  That's why health insurance and even moving out has stagnated.  So there are many educated people competing for minimum wage jobs.  Crazy.  So you have the drumbeat to increase minimum wage.

I believe immigration and illegal immigration has also led to this situation.  We don't need more people here for competition.

Wish I had the answer.
