In hurricane Harvey, wasn't most of the damage done by water not wind?

..that was a result of dams and reservoirs overflowing, take that up with the Army Corps of Engineers and the Texas Flood Control District.  With water levels rising around the globe, they obviously need to upgrade their flood management facilities in coastal areas.

Sorry folks my heart does not bleed for the Texas politicians in the Houston area who created these floods.
Houston has been warned for decades about the LACK of removing flood waters due to over building. It's greed of the mighty Tax Dollar they were after.
Quote:
Urban sprawl — meaning low density development over a large area — has limited the city’s natural drainage capacity. The reasoning is pretty simple: When concrete is poured over green space, the city loses capacity to absorb water. Sprawl has been exacerbated by a recent population boom and development growth in the city.

Quote:
As millions have flocked to the metropolitan area in recent decades, local officials have largely snubbed stricter building regulations, allowing developers to pave over crucial acres of prairie land that once absorbed huge amounts of rainwater. That has led to an excess of floodwater during storms that chokes the city’s vast bayou network, drainage systems and two huge federally owned reservoirs, endangering many nearby homes — including Virginia Hammond’s.

“They’ll always have the excuse ‘Well, oh, this was the really big one,’ but you shouldn’t flood an entire city like this, you shouldn’t have water out of banks in every single bayou like this,” Bedient said. “Something is amiss and they need to rethink the whole deal, and it’s not going to be cheap.”

For some reason, NOAA does not show the computer models, or the ensemble models.  There are five computer models.  One has it possibly skirting the Yucatan Peninsula.  Another has it turning into the Atlantic, and missing the US completely.  Two has it making landfall in Key West, and traveling northward.  The final model has it making landfall around Georgia or South Carolina.

I remember in 69' when the seeded hurricane Debbie with silver iodine pellets resulting in a significantly reduction in wind speed.  Wonder why they discontinued this project.  Undecided

Not sure of that; maybe a closer look at that may dispel the idea of seeding storms.  Remember Claude Pepper want to drop an atomic bomb in one back in the day.  That would result in a super seeding.

Heard that back in the day the Fed flood gurus installed a boat load of flood gauges around that area and developers pulled them up so to sell more houses.  That is definitely the fault of local politicians that took their under the table loot and too flight to higher ground.
