We're on our way to becoming a government-military-economy, like Cuba, for example.

We should have fewer, but smarter and more capable service men and women.

Why aren't we investigating the President and staff that held office while the supposed Russian interference occurred?

How are they going to have access to their psych meds in Afghanistan or Iraq? You really can't skip a dose.

Recruits are way down.

This is what happens when you misuse and abuse the military in worthless military conflicts.

Same thing happened after Vietnam and some analysts thought our military was almost worthless in the mid to late 70's and it had nothing to do with Carter.

Bring back the draft! ......like Israel, mandatory service should be the law, at least one full year.....learn what it's like to be an adult.

Because the military is having such a tough time with recruiting and there is no draft, one day the military just might have drop its ban on convicted murderers and rapists from being able to enlist. sarcasm

Forget the 'quality' of the recruits, those enlistment 'quotas' have to be met, no matter what the cost. sarcasm

Could be a positive.  We could field a few divisions that are sicker and nastier than ISIS.

And add to that the abolishing of Don't Ask, Don't Tell; and now transgenders are welcome; and now sgt. Bergdahl becomes a deserter, and soldiers dispatched to find him are killed and wounded -- and Bergdahl walks free back into civilian society -- and now many want to pay him $300K back pay.

So I say, why would logical thinking young men and women want to sign up today. Not me. I signed up more than 50 years ago when this BS (at least the social experiment stuff) wasn't going on.

Eh.  Having put in eight years myself (Coast Guard then Army) I've seen a lot of fellow sailors/soldiers with a "past" and they've gone on to serve their country 20 years.  The military is a great start and a great help for a lot of people including former gang bangers.
