Other than the Seniority on Committees, how would Term Limits change anything?  How would it give Democrats control?

I agree - Term limits of some sort need to be instilled. When these people become career lifelong politicians it opens the door to more back door deals and corruption. I just think term limits is a no-brainer to keep corruption down. I also think that giving any member of house/senate lifelong benefits needs to be stopped.  Like most jobs in this US - only receive benefits at the time they are actually serving the people. For someone to serve one term, and then receive health and retirement benefits for the rest of their lives is just ridiculous.

I found an interesting site that outlines what members of Congress get after they leave.  They must serve more than five years to get a pension.  For a one term senator (6 years) that is about 9% of their annual salary at age 62 when they start receiving it.  The longer they serve the higher the percentage up to 80%.  They do not get free health either while serving or retired.  Pretty good article.

Surely you meant to say they DO get free health care. And not the Obama kind, nuther.
