Our parents were Democrats because they were poor.  They were not "today's Democrat", in any way.  My oldest sister, now deceased, and I strayed from the fold early on, but it was never a big deal. We used to have discussions over the dinner table that never got out of hand, but were rather just an exchange of ideas. Nobody got offended and nobody got mad.  My next oldest sister is the problem child; spent a lifetime in education, twice divorced and no children. She retired at 55 and did a lot of volunteer work in archaeology, doing some field work, but spending a lot of time on the policy end.  She doesn't do much of that anymore (nearly 20 years later), but lives 2,000 miles from the rest of the family. Looks like she spends a lot of time online re-inforcing what she already thinks. She hates capitalism (my husband and I each own and operate a small business) and her mantra is always greed and tax evasion. If you want to know where she stands on anything you can read the Daily Kos or Think Progress. I love current events, but politics should never come before family, IMHO.

I have Ayn Rand's books in the bookcase. She likes to sneer at those. But then I also have Hillary and Bill's books there, as well as a little Huckabee, Obama and Reagan. I'm an equal opportunity reader. I have all of Obama's books...funny thing..she hasn't read any of them. I have offered to lend them to her, but she's not interested. You can pick them up for a penny on the used book market.

I couldn't agree more, MoGal--  Having to cut off my sister was painful, but she had reached the point were her words were more than hurtful.  She sounded like a liberal ready to swing her bat!
I miss my sister, but I don't miss the arguments.  I once divorced a woman who did nothing but scream accusations at me, during a time when I was working full time and carrying classes in the evening--a really full day.  (She said she thought I was cheating on her and my answer was, "What do you think I am, the Energizer bunny?"
The way things are now, if we had a civil war, we would surely see family members against family members.

I think that until and unless the current political atmosphere changes drastically, we can be left with no choice but to view liberals and socialists as the enemy.  Like Obama, their intentions are to fundamentally transform America into a socialist/communist state.

Please take a few moments and review 10 U.S. Code $ 904 - Article 104.  Aiding the enemy.

Take comfort in knowing that WE are RIGHT and they are WRONG.  With trepidation, we must face the reality that they want to socially, politically, educationally, economically, physically and intellectually enslave us, our children, grandchildren and all generations to come.

They are the ENEMY.  WE must face it like adults.  WE MUST act accordingly.
