Careful, or you might be told you're 5% African for no apparent reason!

That would be cool. I'm more worried about down the road insurance companies using the info to up premiums of deny insurance. Plus I saw a show on ID where the cops used it to arrest someone but the info was wrong. I don't think these companies are allowed to give it out anymore but still.

No But,
I had my full DNA tests done in 2006 by FTDNA.
Most people are not smart enough to figure out the results. My cousin goes back eight fathers for a perfect match (Which is right). My niece is a perfect match and the rest are guessing. (like genealogy)
I have my deceased cousins DNA even though he never tested. So the people think I'm the father of one of his kids. I was clear out of the country when his wife got PG.
They don't take into consideration that you have to be in the same town when your girlfriend gets PG to be the father.
Now DNA is ruined by idiots.
I found my long lost great Uncle. He had an argument with his wife, took the kid and disappeared. He called me and asked why his DNA matches me, I lied thru my teeth and said I don't know.
I'm not telling him that his Mom is not his Mom.
Proof: Was from the same small town in Texas, Same rare surname, moved back from Quebec to Marshall, Texas. My Mother and grandmother looked for him their whole life. (He is late 90's now)
I will not trust Ancestry with any information.

My 25% Irish lineage (courtesy of my grandmother) is in need of the inevitable (according to the paid for ancestry monitor) 5% African roots to show why I can dance!

Bogtrotting in itself just ain't enough in this multi-ethnic world we love!

I always felt the less you post about your personal life on line the better off you are. Facebook amazes me in that people put their whole life out there without realizing the devious people reading it.

I'll keep my DNA where it belongs. With me. Grin Wink

Facebook uses faces. It takes your picture and puts it in a Data base. Your drivers license photo verifies who you are.
Your SS number has been hacked dozens of times.
Your birthday is listed on the net.
Yours and mine credit cards are posted on some sites.
Someone used my credit card and the cops did catch them.
The guy told the judge that he was my brother Dennis and I gave him permission. (My deceased brother is Dennis)

Forget FB, I am who I am, and other then that, I've had a good life and don't need to have anyone tell me who I am or who I am not.

The ONLY time I think DNA is needed is to prove you may or may  not be the Father of a child if there is doubt.

In other word:  NO!!

I'm too skeptical with what those companies do with your DNA and a bit leery of US govt. (sadly) to send in my DNA.  Not to mention, there was a recent story about how some company, maybe 123andme, purposely sent fake reports to whites showing they had black bloodlines to freak people out - What????  That's nuts.  I will pass.

On a side tangent, let me say I did my dog's DNA test thru the Vet and it was totally wrong.  We knew the mother positively was beagle but the father was unknown.  The DNA showed my dog was mixed breed, chihuahua and boston terrior.  Uh, no.
