If that's directed at me, I'm not entirely sure what you're saying. But yes, I know I'm not the only person in the Bay Area who feels this way. It's just dang hard to find friends around here lol.

I'm new here so I hope my opinion is welcome!

I currently live in the Bay Area. Moved here a year ago for career stuff.

None of this really surprises me. The Bay Area is by far the least friendly place I have ever spent time, from New England where I grew up, to the South, to LA and Utah and OC and Wyoming. I have yet to meet one nice, friendly person who wanted to have a conversation and smiled and didn't sneer at me. Other than people at my church out here.

I don't even make eye contact with people anymore; they all just glare at you, or stare at their phones.

It sucks. Diversity is a lie; I see people of all races and genders and whatnot here, which is totally fine. Except nobody talks to each other, so it doesn't really matter. Everybody just hates everybody else.

Can't wait to get out and go somewhere else. At this point, even southern California, where I spent a year before coming here, seems friendly and chill.

If it weren't for my chosen career as a filmmaker/playwright, which is full of liberals and losers, I would pack up and move to Montana or Idaho or something. When I'm not working, I love to be in the mountains.

But in terms of opportunity, recreation, landscape, weather, jobs and arts scene, I just can't think of anywhere like California. It depresses me how terrible this place is now. It's so beautiful.

Anyway, that's my sob story. Hope to have some good conversatons with like-minded people on this forum.

Welcome aboard, Jack!  (The "London" I don't believe!  Wink )

The bay area, as beautiful as it is, is the pits.  Traffic is outrageous; shopping, equally outrageous.  Prices, outrageous.  Liberals, outrageous.
What's to like?

That's why AZ, Texas and other points east, appealed to a lot of Californians.
I live in a gated community on the delta, so we are all friendly here.  Outside, not so much.
I never go to SF and I have a son who lives there.  Hate that place!

Nothing sinister is meant. It was the closing comment to an old television show that many of us recall very fondly, I'm sure.

Naked City (TV series)

I don't remember the show, but I heard people refer to that line!  It's a good one.

Maybe it's time to post this translation guide from Californian to Texan again:

"Anthropogenic Global Warming/Climate Change is a massive POLITICAL hoax."
Naturalized-Texan, many times in the past 15 years

"Modern American liberalism, Mussolini's Fascism, and Hitler's Nazism all have their roots in Wilsonian Progressivism."
Naturalized-Texan, 1/7/2009

"The goal of all liberal programs is to produce ever-increasing numbers of poor and ignorant people dependent on government handouts."

We have visited every state in the United States except North Dakota, Minnesota, and Hawaii, and we have traveled in Texas from Port Arthur to El Paso and from Corpus Christi to Dalhart and we're glad that we live in Texas.
