‘The swamp won’ on spending bill, Freedom Caucus co-founder says

Print Post
The Ohio Republican said fiscal conservatives were poised to reduce government spending this time around, but Republican leadership caved despite having majorities in each house of Congress.

He dismissed Republicans who said there weren’t enough votes in the Senate to overcome a filibuster from Democrats.

“Last time I checked, Democrats don’t have 60 votes in the Senate, either,” Mr. Jordan said. “And last time I checked there’s more Republicans in the Senate than there are Democrats, more Republicans in the House than there are Democrats, and there’s a Republican in the White House.”

Mr. Jordan said the spending bill is “not consistent with what the American people elected us to do, not consistent with what we told them we were going to do.”

And you're not about to witness any in the coming years thanks to this monstrosity of a bill. This is what working in a "bipartisanship" manner with Democrats produces. Wink  Next we will be offering amnesty as a concession for wall funding for a wall we will never likely see built. Yes, I know all about the prototypes. They used to call the Republicans the "party of opposition" but Democrats know how to play the game far better and win. Pray they don't gain the Senate or House because then it's game over. We will know in 9 months. I hope I am wrong. Undecided

Look at what Jim Jordan said..... Quote:
“Last time I checked, Democrats don’t have 60 votes in the Senate, either,” Mr. Jordan said. “And last time I checked there’s more Republicans in the Senate than there are Democrats, more Republicans in the House than there are Democrats, and there’s a Republican in the White House.”

Hell, look at the makeup of the republicans in congress today. As far as I can tell the 'Freedom Caucus' isn't overflowing with members.

Imo, even if the demokrats would lose seats, or the status quo stays the same, it's game over.

Therein lies the problem. Too many RINOs claiming only at election time they they are conservatives. Ballooning the deficit isn't what being a conservative is supposed to mean.

Congress is brimming over with so many REAL traditional conservative republicans that the electorate instead chose to elect a former democrat and businessman to the presidency.

Congress is Kabuki Theater on steroids. Both sides pretend to fight with one another, but actuallly cover for one another while they both fatten their bank accounts with lobbyist money.

Mark Meadows: 'The swamp is obviously deeper' in Washington under Trump

The chairman of the House Freedom Caucus says a spending deal passed last week by Congress shows "the swamp is obviously deeper" now, despite President Trump's campaign promise to "drain the swamp."

“I was expecting him to continue to push back on draining the swamp,” Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said of Trump on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“At some point we’re going to have to say, [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell, enough is enough, 51 votes on anything that is of national security interest.”

“Well, the swamp is obviously deeper,” he said. “When you look at $300 billion over a 10-year period it makes even a drunken sailor blush. And the problem with that is the drunken sailor actually spent his own money. We have the government spending yours.”

It's up to the People to expand the membership of the Freedom Caucus. The Caucus exists because of the efforts of grassroots level politics in which people in various states told the RNC to shove their RINO candidates. WE did so with many successes in 2010, and again in 2014.

Time to do it again. Primaries are starting already. We need good, hard core conservatives on the ballots. Just as in 2010, we get our choices nominated, the RNC has no choice but to back them in the general.
