Is Texas Turning Blue?

If Texas goes blue then I hope the first thing the California transplants do is institute an income tax there so it will be more like the Peoples Republic of California; from where many new residents come from. Where will they go then?  No Florida is already Blue from snowbirds transplanting their liberalism here.

Even the liberal Houston Chronicle is saying that the Dem blue wave has stalled in Texas.

Man, I certainly hope so, Tex.  Texas and until recently, Florida, was our only hope.  The commie wave is still alive and well, or sick depending on how you look at it.

Texas was blue back in Gov. Ann Richards day and those days are over.  I hope.  The big cities are mostly blue, excepting Fort Worth, but Houston, Dallas, Austin, El Paso, Brownsville are blue, Fort Worth and Lubbock and Amarillo seem pretty conservative to me.

Austin, San Antonio, Laredo, El Paso, Houston, and Dallas are all full of democrats. Urban areas in Texas make up 85% of the population with only 15% of the state population living in rural areas. Many of our districts slice right through these areas and so rural votes are mixed in with urban votes for representation. It is already being reported that democrat turnout this year is double what it was in 2014. There is a lot of concern about the fundraising efforts of Beto vs. Cruz as well as Lamar Smith's seat being open this year.

Yes they are, it is the pendulum effect that has been around for many decades.  If Trump "delivers" on the economy as it appears he will, that will sway a lot of voters, as Trump know how to woo dems also, i.e. the Steel and coal industries WERE typically democratic voter locks up until Nov 2016. Trump got both those groups to vote for him.   Grin

They're turning blue???

(How long can they hold their breath??)  Grin

Texas, unfortunately, is going the way of the other major cities in the country.  Where the cities become unwieldy, they tend to become socialists.  Rural areas not so much.
(CA is the same way.  It's the major cities that swing the votes.)

Damned if I know exactly why, but I can probably come up with a number of reasons I believe that's true.

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."--Winston Churchill--
