There is one small problem, the US Constitution specifically prohibits splitting up States without the approval of the adjacent States and congressional approval.

"New states may be admitted by the Congress into this union; but no new states shall be formed or erected within the jurisdiction of any other state; nor any state be formed by the junction of two or more states, or parts of states, without the consent of the legislatures of the states concerned as well as of the Congress." - Article IV, Section 3, Clause 1 of the US Constitution

Some of California should be traded to Mexico for a wall.

I've been saying that for years. Give Mexico the CA coast about 50 miles wide, from just N. of Frisco down to the souther border. Maybe include the area around Sacramento, just 'cause we're nice.

The three way split looks logical, but it will not work because the state has a huge debt and deficit with no way to dig themselves out of the hole. The hole is in the coastal counties; the richest counties BTW, and will lose tax payer population like crazy.

Here it is:  https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/04/12/initiative-to-divide-california-has-signa...

They can even get this passed on a ballot, but it was said Congress would have to approve it -which they won't.

All talk.

How can the get it passed when half of Mexico lives in the populated areas where most of the voters are.

IF this becomes reality, which I doubt, would any of the states become Republican controlled?

That seems to be the question but from what I was told "elsewhere" northern CA is Republican so that one should become Republican. The other two I suspect...not so much. Wink

Probably won't happen anyway. Wink

So with 6 Senators instead of 2, it could be 4-2 which would be the same as now or it could be 6-0.  I think I see the point of it.
