FBI: Top Internet Scams......

Tech support 'fraud' is a big one.  I continue to get 'spoof' calls where some scammer with a foreign accent wants to fix my computer.  And don't waste your time complaining to the 'don't call center', they cant trace 'spoof' calls, and the FCC wont make them illegal. Angry

It's been many  months now, but I used to get calls, always from a young sounding guy with an Asian Indian or Asian accent, telling me he was from Micro Soft, and that they have been noticing "suspicious" activity on my computer.

I asked them to specifically tell me what websites I have been visiting, where the suspicious activity is occurring. They couldn't tell me anything specific, just giving me some phony technical talk.

The guy then put what he said was his supervisor on the phone. I went round and round with him to provide me specifics. He couldn't,  and he finally hung the phone up on me.

I had at least two more calls like that, except I told the person calling that I didn't give a damn, and I hung the phone up on him.

I have kept the "Tech Person" on the line so long that he hung up on me.  Smiley

The one I've gotten more recently is the e-mail saying "Warning - this is the IRS and we are about to audit you! A warrant is being sworn out for your arrest as we speak! Call this number IMMEDIATELY to avoid prosecution!"

If I had to describe myself with one word, it would be "Doesn't follow directions."

We got three of the exact warnings, but they were telephone recordings, not emails. I told them to bring it on!

But as of late, we get the same robocalls, telemarketer, etc., but with different phone I.D. numbers.

One call is telling us our car warranty is no longer in effect and that I need to call them. This is a live person, not a prerecorded call. It's always a different person  (telemarketer). My wife tells them we no longer own the vehicle. I tell them to go to hell, that I'm tired of their phone calls.

Another call is where a prerecorded tape says: Hi, my name is Amy, can you hear me? I don't listen to the rest, as they want you to say "yes" (that you can hear them). Then, as I've read about scams, they try to use your affirmation to legally bind you to some oral agreement/contract over the phone.

Then, I've gotten two prerecorded phone calls from some organization that can help me with my student loans, that they got my name from some eligibility list, etc.  What a damn lie. The only list I'm one is maybe a Medicare list. I do get robocalls and mailers for free hearing tests.

I had one of these about a year ago.  He tried to tell me my puter had a problem, which he wanted to fix.
I said, "which one?"
"Wha--", he said.  "Whadda' ya' mean, 'which one'?"
I said, "I have 12 of them."
"Ha," he said, "no, you don't--you have one and it has an error."
"No, you don't understand," I said.  "I have 12 hooked in parallel and if you understand electricity for simpletons, you'll know that anything in parallel, looks like one."
I could HEAR him drooling--when I hung up.

Lordy, I get them all the time....Microsoft Support, or Apple Support.   I just tell them I am praying that Kali eats their hearts.
Mostly I just hang up on them...

I usually ask the caller...."Hey Sabu, don't you have some elephant dung to shovel someplace?".

Really got one riled so bad, he called me back three times cussing his brains out at me.  I told him he called at a bad time, as I was
getting it on with his wife, and she was howling like a banshee!  Cheesy
