He’s no where the most conservative on Trump’s list

I don’t get why he was picked

Get the feeling he'll be another Kennedy if confirmed.

.....I guess Trump probably figures he's the easiest to get confirmed, and he hopes to get it done by Oct 1st. Undecided

I have an uncomfortable feeling we're going to end up with a 4/4 + wishywashy again, just as we had with Kennedy.  I simply do not like some of the things Kavanagh has written on case topics, several times claiming government "compelling interests" over our enumerated rights.

I guess it's time to start hoping Ginsberg retires before 2020. AND that Trump hands us a better replacement for her than he came up with for Kennedy. Would be nice to have a 5/3 + wishywashy.

Can also hope Breyer decides to go on a permanent fishing trip real soon.  5/2 + wishywashy?  Too much to hope for?

I think the main reason for this pick was to get the establishment republicans on board and hopefully make for a more united Republican Party.

I am not impressed by him....especially his catholicism.

The hardest thing to explain is that which is evident but which too many have decided not to see.

The essence of political correctness.

Even tho he is weak on Obamacare he is very conservative socially and he is VERY strong on 2A rights.
He is very anti any weapons bans for example.
So he isn't all bad. And he is definitely more conservative than Kennedy and a little more than Robert.

It could be thanks to him that we get our 2A rights reaffirmed in all states in the future. Especially if somone from NY or California sues the state for violating their 2A rights.

Just being optimistic. I hope he does well.

“weak on Obamacare” may be a stretch in that the so-called law was totally unconstitutional in the first place and how any sane person could make a judgment on it is beyond me.  The Kenyon Candidate (a synonym for ”Manchurian Candidate”) and the Communist Party USA (former DNC) had 75 years to compose that terrible Marxist garbage pile of co-called law.  Just saying......

My feelings exactly and I stated so in the "pinned" thread. He seems more like a "middle-of-the road(er)". At the sake of redundancy...how soon we forget the back-stabbing" by Roberts.

I think it was also because he should be the easiest to confirm.
