Darkest Hour

Have you seen the move "Darkest Hour" about Churchill?  I watched it last night and loved it.  I'm curious about what other people here thought.

I have watched it three times.  Thought it was great also!  Great performance.

Gary Oldman is one of the best actors over the last 20+ years.  Shame Daniel Day Lewis retired because he was the best.  Both Brits/Irish too.

As for the accuracy.  I would say a solid 85% of the movie was not "Hollywoodized". The train ride was pure fiction.

From what I have read, most of it was pretty accurate, except, as someone else here said, the part where he goes into the train and talked to the people.  Churchill never would have done that.  It was out of character and never happened.

You can do a google on "accuracy of darkest hour" and read 10 different articles by various experts answering your question in detail.

That was pretty much what it was like.  His General Staff were a pack of limp-waisted negotiators.  As far a I know, he came up with the idea.
