Senate seats are the big wins. Republicans can easily win the House in 2 years. Dems have small majority in what was supposedly to be their blue wave. Senate seats are 6 years!

Absolutely!

As I stated in another post, let's not get all upset about losing the house and make ourselves look silly like the democrats.  Elections come and go, you win sometimes and you will loose sometimes.  Let's just move forward and do better next time.  The election is over, there is nothing more we can do with this one.

President Trump will be able to handle these liberals with one hand tied behind his back, he will turn the tables on them.

We still have the Presidency and a larger, more powerful Senate!

Liberals can never be allowed power again.

As I pointed in another post, the incumbent party rarely wins the mid-term elections.  But in this election, we limited the damage.  The GOP retains control of the Senate and actually increased their number of seats.  In the House, the DNC will have a very small margin.  That means that Pelosi will have to work with the GOP, and President Trump, to get anything passed.  Especially, if she wants it to pass the House.  If Pelosi refuses to work with the GOP, then it gives them a platform to use in 2020.

My money is on Pelosi following her own bad habit.  She thinks bi-partisanship is the GOP doing what she tells them to do.  The GOP will offer to work with her, but they will want something in return.  She will never give the GOP anything.  That will kill the DNC in 2020.

Currently looking like we'll have 55, possibly even 56 when the counting is over.

Current count is 52-44, with 4 yet to be determined.

The Mizzippi special election is going to go to run-off. (As we all knew it would...) Hyde-Smith is 7 tenths ahead of Espy, but with 97% reporting, neither has any chance at all of topping 50%.  So in the run-off, we're looking at 58% total republican votes compared to 42% total dim votes.  With the already high turnout, those totals are unlikely to change a lot in December's run-off. So that's at LEAST 53 'Pubs in the Senate.

Arizona looks tight, but McSally is the likely winner in the outcome. She currently 9 tenths, with 63% reporting. If McSally hangs on, that would be 54

Nevada is just coming in with early results (finally!) When I first looked, Heller was up by a point with 2% reporting. Then it went to Rosen by a half point with 6%.  Now it has Heller up by 3.3 points with 14% reporting.  I think Heller has a very good chance of pulling the rug out from under dims hope for a flip. So that places 55 R's.

Montana is a wash at this point. Rosendale is up by 7 tenths, with 64% reporting.  Early results had Tester up by as much as 10 points, but that lead vanished as more outlying precincts call in. Where it goes from here depends entirely on where the yet-to-report precincts lie.  If they are urban, Tester will win his third term (he promised to run only twice, yet A$$HOLES still voting for the lying sack). If most of them are rural, then we will have 56(!!!) republican senators to confirm a whole HOST of federal judges as fast as Trump can select them.

THIS would be a great time for Ginsberg to fall asleep during a speech and not wake up from it. (Meanwhile, Sotomayor goes into an irrecoverable diabetic coma......)

The Democrats will not be able to help themselves...they will become utterly insane with the little bit of power they get by having the House. People will eventually notice this and things will not go so well for the Democrats in 2020. That's my prediction.

Thank God that Gillum and Beto did not win. I just wish that Elizabeth Warren had lost as well.

Pelosi will reign over gridlock and offer nothing but investigation after investigation for the next 2 yrs. All for soundbites for 2020.
Has she ever worked with anyone but her own agenda? NO!

We have had gridlock since 2014 with bill after bill piling up in the Senate.  Sometimes gridlock is a good thing, sometimes not.  We need the lame duck House to seal the tax cuts in stone.

I may be off but I thought that I read an article that in 2020 the Republicans will have to defend 20 seats while the Dems will only have to defend 11.  Undecided

Looking out my kitchen window into the south central Florida morning fog -- my coffee sure tastes better this morning knowing Ron DeSantis beat Andrew Gillum for governor, and Rick Scott unseated Bill Nelson for Senator!

As the late Jackie Gleason used to say: How sweet it is! Cheesy

Tonight's election was a success by most standards.  The Senate means we can get those Confirmations through.  BUTTT, what happened in the House is very disturbing in my view.  President Trump had a two year period which would be among the best ever and the population largely ignored it and voted Democrat.  I feel like I am "raining on everyone's parade", but here are the facts.  In the 2020 Senate there will be 21 Republicans and 11 Democrats plus two winners from yesterday that will be up for election.  That is the reverse from this year when the Democrats had to defend a bunch of seats.  Also the President is up for election.  I don't even want to think about that outcome.  Even if 2019 and 2020 are a Great Two Years, Socialism is knocking on our door.  If that many people vote Democrat when the Economy Is Booming, there is no hope for America............. Cry
