I would add that even with Trump's reelection as you pointed out it will only take one cycle where the Democrats win and it's over. Their plans are in place awaiting the signal to implement them.

As to me getting it, I wish more would and be willing to speak out.  It doesn't mean one is against him or won't vote for him again.  This notion that it lends support to his opponents is pure hogwash. No one comes to a place like this reads some criticism of the administration and decides I better not vote for him and then vote Democrat.

Keep in mind that his team no doubt has people scouring sites like this especially ones with the word conservative it to get a pulse of what people say and think. It may do some good but certainly no harm.

As a child of the 60's and Vietnam Vet and having gone to college . in the 60's I have some insight into this whole communist-socialist (C-S) thing.

The far left CS movement goes back prior to WWII and never quite gained a lot of traction until the Vietnam war.  But why did it gain traction then??  WHO were we fighting in Vietnam?  Viet Cong, NVA, N Vietnam, well yes BUT we were fighting the COMMUNISTS!!!!  They had support from the Chinese and the Russians...smelling the coffee?

The CS movement took off like wildfire by using the war at the leverage and being drafted.  The movement fell flat on its face when the govt ended the draft and began to put restraints on the boys in the paddies, thank GOD I was not there for that!

So all those CS folks are still with us and they have been fermenting and mentoring.  PLUS a lot of them used college to beat the draft unlike me!  By the time some of them had spent 8 years in college they ended up teaching and mentoring and today CS is the current happy words and 43% of America is singing its song!

There is no draft to kill off and the media will not talk about Cuba, Venezuela, and the USSR or any other CS failure!

BOGO = Buy One Get One (FREE).  Free the most powerful word in American modern society.

Social Programs (FREE) provides $78,000 in cash and benefits to non-working minority mother of 2 children under the age of 18...on average!

HUD does NOT foreclose on minority-owned homes!!!!!!

You can see where it is headed.  Ever seen how far it takes to turn around a oil tanker on the ocean...about 30 min, how long to turn around the FREE-C-S movement???

We can sit here all day complaining about the way things are, but in the long run, it all boils down to what we intend to DO about it!

Complain some more?
Wring our hands?  Talk smack, but cringe when socialists contradict us?

We need to be heard.  Write letters constantly.  Send them to representatives/senators/mayors/governors.
Make yourself heard.
I do this a lot, but feel lonely doing it.  It IS lonely doing it, because there's little feed-back.
Do it anyway.

You are right. I do it all the time. Then again, I'm NJ also so... no results are expected. Wink

One thing that I heard mentioned in a conversation elsewhere was that even Trump needs to have his feet held to the fire. Not as a punishment but as an incentive. He has tried and been obstructed by both parties. The base can not be allowed to be taken for granted. That forces him to keep the issues he ran on last time in the forefront, this time.

Down from 53%.  This why the economy isn't going to be a game changer as far as voting.  That and we have plenty of idiot voters who don't work, receive freebies, live off mommy and daddy and could not care less about the economy. It's why they find socialism so appealing.

From November 20, 2018 | 4:23 PM EST

A new survey shows that 53% of Americans approve of President Donald Trump's handling of the economy, which is higher than the economic approval average of 45% that extended from Ronald Reagan through Barack Obama.

All I can say is, if 45% disapprove of Trump's economy -- they must of really been upset with Obama's economy.

I think missiles no matter where they are launched from are the most powerful weapon.

Quantity over quality, yes the Korean war proved that. When the Chinese entered on North Korea's side, the Chinese just plain over ran our troops with human fodder. I heard stories in boot camp (early 60's) from the DI's about how there were so many Chinese, we could not kill them all.

Of course I do not think we will ever be in that position again with all the technology in war.

As far as communism, the democrat party IS the communist party always was always will and they control our education system. What I worry about are all those more concerned about their own paycheck's than being controlled by the Chinese.

Saw the segment about the farmers. Many farmers did not seem to care about China controlling America, just about selling their crops.

The same way businesses care more about their own paychecks than having China run their businesses.

I'm hoping this trade war will prompt businesses to find OTHER countries to build their products or better yet return to America.

I know little about the Navy, but I am gravely concerned.  Here is the problem and I may well be wrong and stupid…BUT:

The Chinese are a larger Navy that the US, but the US Navy outweighs the ChiComs in tonnage or in common speak our ships are bigger therefore better.  Having said that many battles upon the seas have been won by “Corvettes”, bigger is not always better.  Or as the Iranians said they have enough missiles they can throw at our biggest carrier and they believe Qty wins.

Example:  We take a couple of our baddest Gatling guns, firing 6,000 rds per min and we employ them in Happy Valley which is the most likely place the ChiComs will start a ground war.  The balloon goes up and the ChiComs come at us with rusty guns, sticks ne stones.  We have an endless supply of ammo but they got a endless supply of people.  Guess who wins?

While you are pondering that, study the 13 days at the Alamo.  For 12 days 182 vs 5000+ and ole Davey and Jim Bowie and COL Travis beat them like rented mules.  But on the 13th day Santa Anna changed his approach and he gave the order to “fix bayonets” and they overwhelmed them, not thru firepower, but thru massing on the objective.

Point:  IMO, tonnage does not win.  How many missiles can a carrier defend against?  Or how about 1 small tactical nuke in an airburst or perhaps MOAB in an airburst.

I call this the Golden Corral approach or as we say down here in Texas…’pitch till ya win’.  Stop off at a Golden Corral Buffet and see who wins, it ain’t you, no matter how much you eat the Corral keeps filling the pans.

True story:  I stopped by and had lunch with a friend some years ago and he works building Off shore oil platforms.  There was some steel cable laying in the floor and it was huge.  I asked what it was used for.  North Sea platforms, take big cable for the rough seas there.  I asked, how do you cut that huge cable.  He said it was easy, he does it all the time.  I am guess some magic machine that is huge and costly…no, he uses a hammer and a cold chisel!  WHAT??  Then he showed me, lots of smaller wires to have the flexibility and you the old rule of how do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time.  He defeats a 500,000 lb breaking strength cable with a hammer and a cold chisel.

I have NEVER bought into the Navy’s battle operations and history is NOT on their side!

The Chinese are preparing for war.  Guess what country controls the world rare earth metals…what country owns a major portion of our Uranium supplies?  Thankyou Clinton, Kerry, Obama…

China Now Has More Warships Than the U.S.
But sometimes quantity doesn't trump quality.

Rare earth reserves worldwide as of 2018, by country (in 1,000 metric tons REO)*

https://www.statista.com/statistics/277268/rare-earth-reserves-by-country/

You have a good point about numbers versus tech, but keep in mind that for the Chinese to actually win the war, they would have to transport all those people and arms to the US, across thousands of miles of ocean. If they accomplish that, after a full on attack from our standing military, they still have to get by an armed nation, and folks who value their freedom. There are 18 million vets out there who would not take kindly to the Chinese taking over...  Wink
